Reading About Steve
Jobs
I read the biography Steve
Jobs by Walter Isaacson. He based his writing on more than forty interviews
he had with him. What surprised me the most about Steve Jobs was that he put up
for adoption by two graduate students because they wanted their son to be
raised by college graduates. They wanted the best for their son and wanted his
education to come before anything. This surprised me because I never knew he
was adopted and its clear he comes from smart genes that education is always a
priority. I admire the most about Jobs how he revolutionized an industry. He definitely
is one of the greatest innovators. I personally would be a totally different
person without my iPhone or Mac laptop. The thing I admire least about him was
his experimentation with LSD and his addiction to it. He even got
hallucinations from his addiction. Steve Jobs definitely faced adversity and
failure. In one of his first jobs, her worked at Atari, he got put on the night
shift because no one wanted to work with him due to his arrogance and odor. However,
the time he did work there gave his start into the industry where he would
eventually revolutionize it.
Competencies
The competencies I noticed that Steve Jobs had were an
immense knowledge, critical thinking, imagination, innovation, and creativeness.
He left college after two years and was able to revolutionize an industry, thus
showing his great knowledge. He was able to start a company that drastically
changed an existing industry. His contributions to computers, smartphones, and
tablets will continue to affect many generations long after is passing.
Confusion
One part of the reading that was confusing to me was the initial
loss of sales Apple Computer faced. However, it was a little unclear when the
company actually took over the market share and became extremely profitable. I
wish it went a little more into depth in this part.
Questions
If I were able to ask Steve Jobs two questions, they would
be “Where do you think the technology industry will be in 20 years?” and “What ideas
brought you to the revolutionary idea of the iPhone and iPad?”. I want to know
the answers to these questions because technology is quickly changing and
clearly Steve Jobs was always on the forefront of it. I also want to know how
he got the ideas because they revolutionized the industry.
Opinion
I think Steve Jobs believed hard work was vital to success
and was necessary to succeed. I definitely share this opinion with him because
I am a hard worker and believe it is necessary to succeed in whatever you do.
Whether it is school work or your career, the more effort and hard work you put
in the more you get out.
I also read the Steve Jobs biography. I never knew that Steve Jobs was put up for adoption either. I think it is very interesting to see that somebody who grew up to be one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world has faced so much adversity in his life. Jobs certainly was a hard worker as well as one of the most creative minds the world has ever seen.
ReplyDeleteHi Jamie,
ReplyDeleteI did not read the Steve Jobs biography, but I learned a lot of things after reading your post. I found it very interesting to learn that he was put for adoption and overcame so much adversity and established one of the most profitable, innovative, and unique companies our world has ever seen. I also respect the questions that you would ask him as they are also things that I would ask.
Awesome Post!
